Woven rugs in grey

Chic, sustainable and natural. A woven rug made from virgin sheep's wool is so much more than just a floor covering. It's an eye-catcher, a statement of style and a decision made for a healthy and durable product. When choosing a rug colour, neutral tones speak louder than words and adapt to your lifestyle.

This is another reason why the colour grey has become a truly enduring trend for high-quality woven rugs. The discreet wool rugs not only score points in matters of style, but also hold their ground as authentic all-rounders in combination with strong colours and vibrant everyday family life.

Grey. A trendy colour that grounds.

Grey: trend colour 2021 Grey: trend colour 2021

Grey has many meanings; traditionally, the colour embodies wisdom, restraint and balance. At the same time, however, grey also stands for new beginnings.

It is no coincidence that the colour manufacturer Pantone has chosen a strong grey as the trend colour of 2021, alongside the lively "Illuminating Yellow".

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone, explained the choice as follows;

„'Ultimate Gray' stands for solid and reliable elements that are everlasting and form a firm foundation. But also for renewal and perspective.“

It is precisely this tension between groundedness and change that makes grey a fantastic colour for a high-quality natural product such as a hand-woven wool rug.

A little bit of colour theory

Grey is a so-called "achromatic colour" or "non-colour". It is mixed from the equally achromatic basic elements of black and white. However, this does not mean that grey is completely colourless. On the contrary, grey captivates the eye with a multifaceted palette of different shades.

These range from almost black anthracite, graphite, platinum and slate, to taupe, blue grey and light grey, to platinum and silver. The different nuances are created by mixing in tones such as green, blue, red, yellow or brown. The special interaction is created when the selected colours are transferred into the woven pattern and the rug design.

By combining your wool rug perfectly to the interior of your home-design, you can add a unique brightening effect to any space, piece of furniture, household textile or accessory and will be the pillar of your room design.

Grey fact check:

  • Grey is a timeless trend and is therefore perfect for long-lasting rugs.
  • These discreet floor coverings form a soothing haven of peace in any living environment.
  • Combine them well and grey or anthracite will make other colours shine. Woven rugs in a shade of grey fit into almost every lifestyle trend.
  • Grey wool rugs are particularly dirt-resistant and easy to clean.
  • This makes them ideal for families, pet owners and hosts - even in high-traffic areas such as the hallway or living room

On the other hand, you could already go for a yellow-grey combination when choosing your short pile rug. If you use FELICE rug modules, you have the additional advantage of remaining flexible as you can replace any module at any time, without replacing the entire rug.

DIY is the order of the day: you can create your own decorative elements in bright yellow. If you're into the trendy Boho style, you can create colourful wall decorations in your living room, bedroom or hallway with artistic macramé, for example.

Coloured side tables are another option that enable you to set accents in your home. There are plenty of affordable new models for your shopping basket, alternatively you could rummage around the attic: old wooden stools can easily be freshened up with a dab of paint - making an excellent flower stand or coffee table. In combination with the right rug module, you can spread a nostalgic vintage flair.

Why not combine the grey classic rug with a pink rug? The Felice modular system allows for a flexible rug design. If you get tired of the pink, you can simply replace the module.

It's easy to create a pink and grey colour world with decorative elements. For example with a colourful flower wreath, made with soft and woolly STYLIT craft felt.

The colour combination can also be quickly and easily reflected by the walls of your home. You can of course go all in with paintbrushes for that stylish grey & pink design – although it is easier to go with pictures frames that can be quickly swapped around or replaced, whilst nonetheless making their contribution to those pink accents.

Flowers always add a beautiful splash of colour to any room! Even when you don’t often have fresh cut flowers sitting in your living room, the right vase will be the perfect touch. By using dried bouquets or grasses, you can also decorate your home with flowers all year round.

In addition to the stylistic arguments, this are te the top two practical advantages of a highly stylish grey rug, made of virgin sheep wool:

  1. Grey is a very uncomplicated colour. Earthy grey tones in particular are very forgiving of minor dirt stains and can easily be cleaned. This is ideal not only for families with children and/or pets, but also for anyone who enjoys hospitality and inviting friends over.
  2. Pure new wool rugs are extremely easy to clean. This is because sheep's wool has natural self-cleaning properties. If any dirt does get into the material, simple carbonated-mineral water is often sufficient as a proven household remedy to remove many types of stains.
